The value of the Union is that it provides advantages to all its constituent parts. It’s not just that the Union benefits from having Scotland in it, it’s also that Scotland benefits from being in the Union. So what does it bring being in this union of the United Kingdom? It brings greater economic stability, guaranteeing our future pensions and funding for public services. It brings a shared currency and the ability to move around and work in other parts of the country with more opportunities for young people and it brings mutual security in a dangerous world. Why throw all these things away? And what guarantees would the people of Scotland get in return?
