Congratulations to all those involved at a great day out at Portishead Lake Grounds raising money for Bristol Children’s Hospital. A special word of thanks to Holly, whose great common sense spotted her son Callum’s meningitis early enough for doctors to save his life. Here’s a link so that all parents can see what symptoms to look for:

Dr Fox was invited to attend the fundraiser by Mrs Carla Street, who organised it with her two sisters. Last Easter her nephew was diagnosed with Meningitis and rushed to the Bristol Children’s Hospital which is the only hospital in the area which treats children with Meningitis. He was given the last bed. If this had not been available, he would have had to be airlifted to Birmingham Hospital. Meningitis can kill in 24 hours. All monies raised will go to the intensive care unit at the Bristol Children’s Hospital.
