Today, Dr Fox published an article in the Daily Telegraph in which he put forward arguments about the need for an economic revolution in the UK. He criticised the Liberal Democrats’ consistent opposition towards the deregulation of Britain’s labour market - something that is fundamental economic growth promotion.
Dr Fox stated that a “deficit reduction without labour market reform is like driving with the handbrake on.” Although he acknowledges reform to the labour market may be controversial, it is still “the best route towards prosperity”.
“In the Thatcher years, Britain hugely deregulated its labour market. Inside today’s Coalition, resistance to deregulation largely comes from the Liberal Democrats”. He added that, “they make up only one sixth – not one half – of the Coalition and must expect that Conservative economic ideas will dominate.”
