Dr Liam Fox, MP for North Somerset, took on the role of speaker in the final of the North Somerset Schools Parliamentary Debating Competition. 12 pupils from 5 schools professionally and skilfully debated the motion “This house believes that water will be the oil of the 21st century.
A large audience assembled at Nailsea school to hear the arguments put forward by the “Government” and the “Opposition”. At the end of the day, the “Government” prevailed.
Congratulations to the winners Emily Wall and Freya Park, year 13 pupils from Gordano School, who were presented with a signed copy of Dr Fox’s book "Rising tides", the schools debating cup and a visit to the Houses of Parliament later in the year.
