Dr Liam Fox MP comments - "While the overall rate has declined we are still seeing rises in some areas. This reinforces the need to continue to observe public health guidelines including social distancing."

 

 

Immunisation Programme  

Total numbers immunised in UK - First dose: 13,058,298 (+12.1%)

                                                        Second dose: 519,553 (+1.3%)

Weekly numbers immunised - First dose: 2,518,455 (+4.27%)

                                                 Second dose: 12,702 (+68.91%)

Numbers immunised UK per 100– 18.86 (12.2%)

Numbers immunised in the South West – First dose: 1,213,582 (+13.3%)

                                                                    Second dose: 56,107 (+0.3%)

Numbers immunised Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire - 150,801 (+30.9%)

Dr Liam Fox MP comments – "Over 13 million people have now been vaccinated nationwide. This is a global success story and at the end of last week the UK had vaccinated more people than the whole of the 27 countries of the EU combined. But we need to ensure that we also lead the drive to immunise those in developing countries. As long as the virus continues to spread it has a greater chance of creating new variants."

Weston and Bristol hospitals beds occupied by Covid Patients - 194 (-13%)

Patients admitted weekly –124 (-11.4%)

 

Testing

Weekly Tests conducted England - 1,682,601 (-3.9%)

Weekly tests conducted North Somerset - 7402 (+2%)            

Test Positivity rate England - 9%

Test positivity rate South West - 5.6%

Test positivity rate North Somerset - 4.8%

Rapid testing programme - Rapid testing has now begun in North Somerset with our first centre established in Portishead. Around 150 people per day are currently being tested, with around 1.5 to 2% positive at the present time.

Dr Liam Fox MP comments – "the NHS announced the purchase of another 20 million lateral flow tests this week. Being able to identify asymptomatic carriers is one of the ways in which we can limit the spread of the pandemic."
