Infection rates in North Somerset (per 100,000) 

UK Current infection rate - 346.1 (-14.8%)

England rate - 373.2 (-11.3%)

South West rate - 247.9 (-11.9%)

North Somerset rate - 250.2 (-23.8%)

Weekly deaths within 28 days of positive test in North Somerset - 16 (+44.4%)

UK ‘R’ rate - 0.8 to 1 

South West ‘R’ rate – 0.9 to 1.2 

Dr Liam Fox MP - “It is welcome that numbers are coming down. I have had some worrying reports, however, that people are still feeling to wear masks in supermarkets and observe social distancing. It is extremely important that we continue to follow this advice until infection rates are under control or there will inevitably be a longer period of lockdown than would otherwise be necessary.” 

 

Immunisation Programme  

Total numbers immunised in UK - First dose: 7,447,199 (+17.2%)

                                                       Second dose: 476,298 (+1.14%)

Weekly numbers immunised - First dose: 2,415,237 (+44.4%)

                                                 Second dose: 7,520 (-83.7%)

Numbers immunised UK per 100,000 - 11,683 (+11.95%)

Numbers immunised in the South West – First dose: 737,709 (+12.7%)

                                                                    Second dose: 53,762 (+0.3%)

Numbers immunised Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire - 115,219 (+44.5%)

Local hospital capacity 

Weston and Bristol hospitals – Beds open: 903 (+2.7%) 

                                                    Beds occupied: 700 (-2.2%) 

Patients admitted weekly 223 (+19.3%)

Dr Liam Fox MP – “Bed numbers are still under pressure especially at Southmead and BRI. Growing anecdotal reports that there are more young people ill than before. No one should regard themselves as safe from this virus” 

 

Testing

Weekly Tests conducted England -1,912,342 (-10.1%)

Weekly tests conducted North Somerset - 8024 (-16.1%)

Rapid testing programme - Rapid testing has now begun in North Somerset with our first centre established in Portishead. Around 150 people per day are currently being tested, with around 1.5 to 2% positive at the present time
