Dr Liam Fox MP comments - "In North Somerset constituency, only Nailsea East is above the average for North Somerset district. It is worth noting, however, there are much higher rates in adjacent parts of Bristol such as Bishopsworth 421.4 and Ashton 248.4. It is safest to avoid travel and social contact where possible. We are only safe when we are all safe."

 

Immunisation Programme  

Total numbers immunised in UK - First dose: 9,296,367 (+25%)

                                                       Second dose: 494,209 (+3.76%)

Weekly numbers immunised -  First dose: 2,415,237 (+44.4%)

                                                   Second dose: 7,520 (-83.7%)

Numbers immunised UK per 100,000 - 14,481.5 (+24%)

Numbers immunised in the South West – First dose: 918,897 (+24.6%)

                                                                    Second dose: 55,378 (+3.01%)

Numbers immunised Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire - 115,219 (+44.5%)

Dr Liam Fox MP comments - "Good news from Portishead centre.  Over 85% of over 80s now immunised and 75% of over 75s. More Astrazenica vaccine arriving this week."

 

Local hospital capacity 

Weston and Bristol hospitals beds occupied by Covid Patients - 223 (-12.9%)

Patients admitted weekly –140 (-25.1%)

Dr Liam Fox MP comments – "The pressure on our hospitals is beginning to ease from its highest levels but we now must protect these gains by ensuring that rates continue to fall everywhere. While the numbers in North Somerset are extremely encouraging there are still higher levels in parts of Bristol whose hospital services we share."

 

Testing

Weekly Tests conducted England -1,746,208 (-8.7%)

Weekly tests conducted North Somerset - 7549 (-6%)

Rapid testing programme - Rapid testing has now begun in North Somerset with our first centre established in Portishead. Around 150 people per day are currently being tested, with around 1.5 to 2% positive at the present time.

Dr Liam Fox MP comments – "testing of asymptomatic patients is producing around 1% positive tests. These are small numbers of individuals but important in stopping wider infection."
