It has been apparent for some time that the closure of Boots on Portishead High Street would produce a capacity problem for the dispensing of prescriptions. More and more patients have been migrating to the pharmacies at West Hill and Waitrose or even to Boots in Nailsea or Clevedon.
Sir Liam Fox MP has today written to the Regional General Manager of Superdrug to ask about the viability of the company opening a pharmacy in Portishead.

Today is World Down Syndrome Day 2024. It is a day to celebrate all those with Down Syndrome, including their achievements and successes, and to emphasise that more work needs to be done to ensure full equality for those with Down syndrome with the rest of society.
While the limit on abortion in the UK is 24 weeks gestation, for Down syndrome, it is 40 weeks, right up to full term. With cross party support I will be tabling an amendment to the Criminal Justice Bill to equalise the time limit in line with our disability and equality legislation.
